The Very First Christmas (Poem)

Twas the very first Christmas and no one was able

To know what would happen that night in the stable.

The country was quiet and most were asleep,

except shepherds in fields up late with their sheep.

There wasn’t much sound, but a cows gentle lowing

and there wasn’t much light but the stars that were glowing.

And what to their wondering eyes did appear,

but Gabriel the angel saying “Do not fear”.

Baby Jesus is born it’s the first Christmas story,

and millions of angels arrived singing Glory.

They headed to Bethlehem when the concert was done

the shepherds couldn’t wait to meet Jesus, God’s son.

They found him with Mary asleep in a manger

and stayed there with Joseph to guard him from danger.

Above them appeared a bright shining star

that guided three wise men who traveled afar.

They brought him gifts that were fit for a king

because of the peace that they knew he would bring.

He’s not just like Santa or reindeer or toys,

he didn’t just come to good girls and boys.

For sadness and hurt in our world He was sent,

we celebrate Jesus, the best Christmas present!
