Our Commitment to Kids

Jesus said, "Let the children come to me and do not hinder them." Our gospel-centered program introduces kids to the Bible and what it is to love God and serve others.

Parents who live out their faith teach their children to do the same. At Valley Springs, we help parents grow in their calling to nurture their children spiritually.

Start at kids check-in

On your first visit, go to the check-in station in the foyer. Our Check-In volunteer will have an iPad in hand to get you started.

Our nursery toddler side is fully staffed at both 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM for kids ages 3 and under.

If your child is at least 3 years old and fully potty-trained, he or she can start attending Sunday School in Discoveryland.

We have at least two trained and cleared adult volunteers who are eager and ready to care for your children! There are age-appropriate toys, books, and a play kitchen to keep everyone occupied.

During the 10:00 AM service, kids will be given a small Cheerio snack (unless you've indicated otherwise at check-in).

You can indicate at check-in if you would prefer to change your own child. There is a changing table and supplies in the infant side that you're free to use.

We will always contact parents if a potty-training child needs to use the bathroom.

The side with the changing table is our crawler side. This area is unstaffed, but open for parents to bring their 6- to 18-month-old child. The 10:00 AM service is livestreamed on the TV, so parents can let their children crawl around and play, while they watch the service in a kid-friendly environment.

This side is always open to anyone who needs to change a diaper, whether that's during Sunday School or the service.

Children ages 3-5 who are fully potty-trained can go to Discoveryland for 9:00 AM Sunday School.

This same age group is invited to Children's Church in Discoveryland during the sermon. They return to service before we serve the Lord's Supper.

During 9:00 AM Sunday School, our teachers and volunteers lead kids in singing praise songs, learning Bible verses, playing outside, and praying together.

We are walking through the Bible, using The Biggest Story curriculum. Our teachers read a Bible story each week, and then children engage further through a coloring page, a Big Truth, and a memory verse.

This is a great opportunity for young children to become familiar with God's Word and learn to love coming to church to worship together!

Children's Church takes place during the sermon portion of our 10:00 AM worship service. Kids ages 3-5 are dismissed to Discoveryland for about a 25-minute period.

Each week, our teachers lead the kids in movement, memory, and music. We do an activity that gets the wiggles out! Then we focus on a different part of the liturgy each week, learning why we worship the way we do, and memorizing a Bible verse to go with the lesson. Finally, we sing age-appropriate songs together, often previewing the final worship song of the service.

Everything we do is geared toward training the children to participate in the worship service, so that they're ready to stay in during the sermon once they enter 1st grade.

Children in 1st through 5th grade can come to 9:00 AM Sunday School in Kids Place.

We have a robust Sunday School program for our elementary students, and such a fun space to do it in!

Each week, we start with singing together as a group. We also focus on memorizing a passage of Scripture together each quarter.

Kids then split into classes by grade. The 1st-3rd graders hear a Bible study, discuss the Big Truth, and learn the memory verse. They have a weekly craft that goes with the lesson, and they pray for each other.

4th-5th graders read the weekly story from the Bible, and they discuss the Big Truth and its applications to their lives. They engage with a weekly reflection sheet to see how God's Word applies to their head, heart, and hands. They also spend time each week sharing prayer requests with each other.

Our Sunday School classes are an important way for kids to connect with caring adults in our church, as well as their peers. We center our time together around the Bible and growing in our understanding of God's love and grace. Join us at 9:00 AM for a transformative time of worship!
