Who is Jesus? It is possible to read the gospels and fail to grasp the wonder of who Jesus is. God the Father ordained all of redemptive history to point to His Son; Jesus came to earth and presented Himself not only veiled in human flesh, but also clothed in a rich and costly robe made of the Old Testament promises, prophecies, themes, and ideas that foretold of the Messiah. Jesus’ claims of deity reveal that He is the great I AM, the very name God revealed to Moses at the burning bush. Our study takes a close look at Jesus’ “I AM” statements in the gospel of John. As we view the “I AM” sayings of Jesus through the perspective of the Old Testament, we will come to see Him in His Biblical glory as God in the flesh, who dwelled among men to seek and to save those who were lost. This study will highlight Jesus as He describes Himself, both through His startling words and His miraculous works.
